Workshop Generator - Thesis Project

It generates workshops. It's in the title.

Install instructions:

Once downloaded, open Blender and head to Edit -> Preferences -> Addons and click install in the top right. Find and select the downloaded Zip file.
Now search up the workshop generator in the addon list and make sure that the check mark is checked. While you're in there you can set up your stl export folder and the path to your CAD software .exe of choice (I know it says "SolidWorks path" but it should work with any program that can open stl's)

Now you should have a tab in the right-hand-side menu in the 3D viewport that says "Cheese Board" (If this menu isn't visible by default you can open it by hitting N on your keyboard.)

Now insert a plane object and hit the "Setup Workshop Generator" and it should set everything up for you.
If you scale the plane in object mode, make sure to apply the scale changes (Ctrl+A) otherwise everything will look wonky as heck.

How to use:

First thing first. Go to the modifiers tab with your workshop object selected.

This is where you'll find all the parameters.

Now, to add stairs, guard rails and doorways, you'll need to apply attributes to the geometry. To do that start with entering edit mode in the 3D viewport (tab key), then open the data tab in the properties panel.

Here you'll find the entire list of attributes you can use to describe the geometry and what kind of value they'll output.

To apply an attribute select one in the list. Then select the corresponding type of geometric feature (vertex or edge) and choose "set attribute" in the mesh menu. I recommend right-clicking the "set attribute" menu option and adding it to your favorites, that way you can reach it by hitting Q on your keyboard. Neat, huh?

Before you can export the model to the CAD software of your choice you need to check the realize instances box in the modifier panel.
